The structured development pathway for entering associates. A small intake, substantial mentorship, and a deliberate path to senior practice.
Each year the chambers accepts a small cohort of associates — deliberately smaller than our commercial volume could support, because we believe in development as a discipline rather than a recruitment metric.
New associates rotate across two of the chambers’ disciplines in their first nine months, then settle into a primary practice. Each is paired with a member mentor. Substantive work begins on day one.
Associates assume increasing responsibility within their chosen discipline. First-chair work on routine matters typically begins in year three. Supervision is by the practising members of the chambers.
The transition to senior associate is structured around demonstrated independent judgement, work product quality, and the development trajectory of the individual. The grade is not awarded on a tenure schedule.
“A small intake, substantial mentorship, a deliberate path.”
