The chambers

The civic lifeof the profession.

The chambers’ civic commitments extend beyond pro bono legal work to the bar, the academy, and the communities in which our offices operate.

Members of the chambers are active in bar associations across our jurisdictions, on law-school faculties and advisory committees, on the boards of non-profit organizations in our office cities, and in the broader institutional life of the legal profession.

We treat these commitments as a discipline of the chambers rather than as individual choices, and the chambers provides the institutional support — time, resources, recognition — that makes substantive civic engagement possible alongside commercial practice.

“Active in the institutional life of the legal profession.”
